Unethical management reliability: Canceled reservations without notification Travelers should be extremely cautious when booking with this property. We booked three rooms for four nights at the Velero Hotel in Doha Lusail through the official IHG website for the 2025 Formula 1 weekend. Our reservations remained fully active in the IHG system. However, when we reached the hotel close to midnight after a delayed flight, we were informed that the property had ended its IHG affiliation months earlier and had canceled our reservations two weeks before — without notifying us. The most concerning part was the hotel’s management practice of removing confirmed reservations without any verified communication to guests. Staff did not produce record of communication to us or IHG, and our bookings still appeared as active in the IHG system. The hotel was overbooked due to the Formula 1 race and an international soccer event. The hotel provided only minimal assistance, leaving us — including our adult children and 18‑month‑old grandchild — to secure last‑minute accommodations in the middle of the night during a major event. This experience reflects unethical management reliability and lack of moral integrity.

Hotel lussuoso, camere molto belle Ho soggiornato al Velero Hotel Doha e l’esperienza è stata molto positiva. L’hotel è davvero bello ed elegante, con camere lussuose, spaziose e curate nei minimi dettagli. Si percepisce attenzione alla qualità e al comfort. Ottimo il rapporto qualità-prezzo. Non abbiamo usufruito degli altri servizi della struttura, quindi non posso esprimere un giudizio su quelli, ma per quanto riguarda il soggiorno in camera siamo rimasti pienamente soddisfatti.

Clearly a bad decision I stayed at the Velero Hotel Lusail from the 18th of November 2025 until the 25th of November 2025. This holiday was much needed, reason why I chose a 5-star hotel in Qatar… bad luck for me, I obviously chose the wrong one. The first room that I had was just the best. The arrangement, the view, the demotic devises, the quality of bed, the bathroom… all good. I just noticed that there was a water evacuation issue with the washbasin. The water was stagnating. The was also an issue with the light of the bathroom which was not turning off. So I asked the reception team to have a look into it. When I came back to the hotel, they decided to give me another room… I didn’t ask for it but I thought it was very professional from them. As from this moment, nothing went right for the rest of my stay. The room they gave me had a clear issue with the air extractor, the noise was so loud, impossible to rest. I asked them to check it because the issue was so obvious. It clearly showed that no one properly checked the room before giving it to me. Given that the couldn’t fix it, they upgraded me. The room they gave me was facing the outside decoration of the Velero, meaning that very little light was entering the room, so basically, even during day time, it was dark. There were stains on the sofa, the lock chain was broken and scotch tape was put on it, again the extractor was making a lot of noise and I found a hair on the sofa… quite disgusting. So again, I had to complain about the quality of the room. They decided to upgrade me to a suite (4th room in two days…). Again, the quality was not there, stains on the bed sheets, damaged furniture, dirty windows, poor quality of the furniture which was not closing properly, the book with all the details of the hotel was teared up, again issue with the bathroom light which was not turning off, a view on the roof of the hotel which was vert dirty and a lot of dust in the wardrobe. I called the Executive Housekeeper (A.T.) to show him how poor the quality of the room was (and the quality check of his team as well by the way…). He apologized and asked his team to fix all the issues. I had then to use the weighing scale… no battery. I went to the reception asking them to change it, I handed them the scale and they said they would fix that. I came back… no scale in my room. Meaning that the different teams, don’t talk with each other. Again, A.T. had to apologize… This stay was just a big mess and not relaxing at all. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend the Velero Hotel and I would definitely decrease the number of stars. This is clearly not the quality of service expected for a 5-star hotel, especially in Qatar where there is a clear vision of excellence.

Scam We as a couple from Europse, stayed here for a week in December. The only possitive experience we had were the friendly staff at the restaurant, unfortunately we did not experience that at the reception!! First we got a room who was not cleaned with dirty coffee cups and a bed who was not made. After our complain we got a room who was oke. At the reception we asked the receptionist if she could provide us with an adaptor, so we could charge multiple divices instead of only one at a time. No, we have to go to the shopping mall,was her answer. But 2 days later when we were waiting for a taxi in opposit of the reception, a guest asked also for an adaptor and he got several from the same lady at the reception! But the major issue was our credit card deposit is not refunded!!!! At the day of arrival they asked us to put a deposit of 500 dirham, wich was no problem for us. But at check-out the lady asked us if it was oke to refund the deposit and to pay our bill separately, because it was only a small amount for several coffees. So we payed for our coffees, and while we were waiting for our taxi i checked my creditcard account and went again to the reception, the amount of 500 dirham was reserved twice! But the lady assured me that it was oke and that it will take several days to refund it. Now several weeks later i checked my account again, and what i was already afraid of happened they collected our deposit. This is really a scam!!! After several visits to Doha, this was our worst experience.

My new home away from home in Doha! 😊 I spent a wonderful four nights at the Valero Hotel over the festive period and had a really enjoyable stay. The hotel is located in the upscale Lusail area and is very easy to reach from Hamad International Airport using the Metro and Tram, with Marina North being the nearest station. It’s also just a 10-minute walk to the stunning Place Vendôme Mall, which was a big plus. This was my third visit to Qatar, second holiday in 2025, and the Valero had been on my hotel bucket list ever since I saw the building beautifully lit up at night while driving back from The Pearl in November 2024. I’m happy to say it definitely lived up to expectations. I was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade at check-in. The room was spacious, luxurious, and finished to a very high standard. Housekeeping did a great job throughout my stay & the room was always spotless and well looked after. Breakfast was generally very enjoyable, with a good variety of options available. It did get quite busy around 9:00am, and the service felt a little chaotic at that time, but every staff member I interacted with was friendly and helpful. As mentioned in other reviews, the pool area is on the smaller side. Fortunately, when I used it there were only a couple of other guests, but I can imagine it feeling crowded when the pool area is at full capacity. One great bonus is the hotel does offer complimentary beach access to Doha Beach Sands Club in West Bay. Getting there is easy, the tram and metro from Marina North to DECC station takes around 15 minutes, making it a very convenient extra. Overall, a fantastic stay and a hotel I would highly recommended and will happily return to.
